Expanded Services: Biofeedback & Neurofeedback

To meet the needs of a growing population suffering from behavioural difficulties (ADHD, ADD) and anxiety, depression and obsessive-compulsive symptoms, I am expanding my repertoire of self-regulatory healing practices to include both Neurofeedback and Biofeedback.

I have no preferred treatment modality as no single approach fits everybody, but I do practice using: Contextual Family Therapy; Relationship-Based, Developmental Attachment; E.M.D.R.; Neurofeedback and Biofeedback.

“Brain-Computer Interface Training involves learning through feedback, to regulate brain wave (EEG) activity. This provides a person with a mental edge – the ability to choose to be in the mental state appropriate for the activity at hand. This Training Program can improve Executive Functioning (including Attention, Focus, Emotional Regulation, Organization, Learning, Listening & Memory) through individualized neurofeedback” (BioFeedback Institute of Toronto).

Peripheral Biofeedback involves feedback concerning physiological states that reflect alertness, tension, and anxiety. This program can improve your ability to effectively handle stress through a combination of Brain Wave (EEG) changes and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) training.

Research shows emotions can change our heart rhythm patterns. Coherent (synchronized) rhythm patterns facilitate higher brain function, whereas erratic patterns inhibit a person’s ability to think clearly.

All of us can learn to shift our heart, respiration and brain wave rhythms and bring our psychophysiology quickly into balance. Learning to control our own rhythms gets to the heart of emotional regulation and optimal performance.

Sessions are intended to help you to:

  1. better understand how and why alarm/anger/anxiety/depression occurs;

  2. notice how your body triggers and responds;

  3. help you to learn fast-acting tools and techniques to get into a regulated state so that chaos doesn't deplete your good energy;

  4. find new solutions for repairing and preventing ruptures in your relationships;

  5. improve focus to achieve mental edge (used by professional athletes, top business executives, graduate students, doctors, lawyers, and engineers).
